‘along the river’

Damon Kowarsky’s work is a delight. There’s something mystical, magical and entreating in his city and landscapes, their perspectives, lines and tones. His figurative work impacts me similarly.

Last night, was the opening of ‘Along the River’ – a partnership between Damon and Kyoko Imazu –  held at Melbourne’s marvellous Sofitel Hotel space in The Atrium.  The exhibition was formally opened by the Hon. Heidi Victoria MP, Minister for the Arts, Consumer Affairs and Women’s Affairs, who knowingly commented on the trust between any two artists, when one can hand over to the other.

Kyoko’s animals and characters add whimsy to Damon’s work. (Is it an oxymoron to say that art can be technically
excellent while naively appealing?)
Something you have to see to appreciate.  It exemplifies a generous collaboration
between the two artists.
